SIN: The Wild Restaurant

Yummy chicken with aromatic pesto sauce and a dash of lemon!

Have you been to a small shopping mall called Westway before? It's located across the road where Haw Par Villa is. One fine afternoon after a relaxing stroll at the park formerly known as the Tiger Balm Garden, I had a lunch with a friend of mine at The Wild Restaurant at Westway.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring any of my little friends that day.

Tangy Wings S$8.00
Taste: 7/10

For a start, we shared a plate of six deep-fried wings. There wasn't anything particularly special about the wings, but they were juicy alright and not too oily. They were drizzled with something akin to BBQ sauce, though lighter and not as sweet, and finished off with chopped parsley.

Lemon Pesto Chicken S$16.00
Taste: 8/10

The main course of lemon pesto chicken immediately caught my attention when reading the menu. The chicken was succulent with the outer layer charred to crispiness. The pesto sauce was aromatic and the vegetables were fresh. The supposedly buttered rice didn't have much of a taste though.

Seafood Basket S$32.00
Taste: 7/10

My friend took some time to decide on his main course, but eventually went for what I thought to be not so value-for-money seafood basket comprising deep-fried dory, calamari and shrimps. The seafood items were accompanied by lightly salted fries and a cup of tartar sauce that was adequately creamy and tangy.

Warm Chocolate Brownie S$6.00
Taste: 6.5/10

Wherever I go, I always carry high expectations for one of my most favourite dessert items of all times. While the chocolate taste was more than satisfying enough, I found that the brownie wasn't that moist with the edges being dry. The chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream were the saving grace.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

The restaurant is probably named as such as it started with a wild idea of siblings Jun and Shan who've decided to be budding restaurateurs. Pika's advice: For those who love lamb, you may want to try their highly rated Lamb Shank with red wine sauce. It's priced at S$28.00.
