SIN: Sushi Goshin

What a delicious unagi bento with mouth-watering fried swordfish!

Hello, folks! I'm finally home! I'll definitely be writing about my food adventure during my overseas trip, but before that, let's take a look at this particular Japanese restaurant that's under the Akashi group. I happened to have some Robinson vouchers that were going to expire soon, hence the decision to try Sushi Goshin out.

Unagi Bento S$29.80
Taste: 8.5/10

The elaborate main course wasn't disappointing at all, given the fresh seafood items presented in the box. The eel was glazed thoroughly with the addictive sweet sauce. The deep-fried flying was delectable too. The set meal came with miso (Japanese fermented rice, barley and/or soybean) soup and two juicy watermelon slices.

Salmon Belly Sushi (per pc) S$4.00
Taste: 8.5/10

Aburi Kajiki Sushi (per pc) S$4.00
Taste: 8/10

At S$4.00 per piece, the sushi had better be good. Sitting on vinegared rice that was executed well, the salmon belly had an adequate amount of fats that melted in the mouth. As for the torched swordfish, it had quite a nice texture, sprinkled with furikake (Japanese mixed dried seasonings).

Yaki Udon S$14.00
Taste: 7/10

The stir-fried udon (Japanese wheat-flour noodle) was good, but nothing to rave about. Topped with seaweed and spring onions, the udon that was cooked with chicken, eggs, onions, carrots and bell peppers could be more flavourful. Apart from that, it was springy enough.

Chawanmushi S$8.00
Taste: 7.5/10

As usual, it was my BFF who ordered the Japanese egg custard. I felt that it was quite velvety and was pretty generous with the ingredients hidden underneath, such as chicken chunks, fish cakes and mushrooms. I'm not exactly sure of the identity of the leaves used in the dish though.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

It's said that some of the ingredients are flown from the famous Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, Japan. While the food items aren't particularly cheap, I can attest to the freshness of the ingredients used. Pika's advice: There's another branch at Suntec City Mall that seems to be less sterling compared to the one at Orchard where I had my dinner.
