SIN: Dazzling Café {CLOSED}

"Eat differently - add a little dazzle to your meals"

UPDATE (24/11/2019): The café has closed down.

Having established its presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Dazzling Café continues to bedazzle its patrons by its honey toast creations, along with other interesting items. My BFF and I didn't order the honey toast though, going for a waffle instead for dessert.

Care to make a guess what's shown in the picture above?

Shrimp Paste Winglets S$11.50
Taste: 8/10

The deep-fried chicken wings seasoned with shrimp paste made a good appetiser. They were pretty juicy and flavourful, glazed with a little bit of Thai chili sauce that lent a nice sweet and sour taste to the meat. The batter was neither too thick nor overly thin.

Dazzling Chicken Cordon Bleu S$23.00
Taste: 7.5/10

The chicken stuffed with Gruyère cheese and wrapped with parma ham might look like a jumbo sausage at first glance. It was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms.

Drizzled with chicken jus, the white meat was tender. Having said that, it could be juicier and be stuffed with more of the cheese.

Scallop Risotto in Prawn Miso Broth S$24.00
Taste: 7/10

The Japanese-Italian fusion dish of risotto slow-cooked in miso (Japanese fermented rice, barley and/or soybean) and prawn stock was moderately tasty, although it could be more velvety. The pan-seared scallops were quite sweet, but not so bouncy in terms of texture. The dish was made merrier with peas, red radish slices and katsuobushi (Japanese dried bonito flakes).

Valrhona Chocolate Waffle S$12.90
Taste: 7.5/10

The pretty waffle came with whipped cream, cocoa bits, cocoa powder, crushed pistachios and dark chocolate sauce. I was looking for something richer, but the one served in the café was decent. Pika's advice: You may want to request for a scoop of ice cream or mochi (Japanese rice cake) to go along with your waffle.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 7.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10

When I'm back in HK, I shall try finding the outlet at The ONE just to have a look. I've been to that shopping mall twice so far, but have never seen it.
