HKG: Club Bauhinia Lounge @ Hong Kong International Airport

Made-to-order cart noodle inside Hong Kong Airlines' lounge!

Nope, my BFF and I weren't going to stay in HK yet. Following the flight SQ866, we spent some time at Citygate Outlets near Tung Chung MTR Station before going back to the airport. Prior to our flight to Bangkok, Thailand on Hong Kong Airlines, we had the opportunity to have dinner and relax at the airlines' lounge.

Melon enjoyed her bowl of cart noodle without having to go to town to get one.

Salad & Cheese

Apart from the canned mushrooms that tasted like cardboard, the vegetables supplied were adequately fresh. The cherry tomato was particularly bursting with juice. I enjoyed the potato salad that wasn't too heavy, as well as the sweet dried apricot with my cheese.

Dim Sum

Free flow har gow, or shrimp dumplings, anyone? While each of the shrimps was quite juicy, the dumpling skin was a tad sticky on the teeth. Both the barbecued pork and custard buns were pretty good.

Made-to-Order Items

From the made-to-order section, we tried the cart noodle and minced dace fish soup. The former, having lots of ingredients inside, was heart-warming and reminiscent of HKUST Canteen II. The side dish featured delectably chewy dace fish cake bits with crunchy Chinese lettuce.

Assorted Stuff

The stir-fried beef was enjoyably tender, while the chicken nugget was fried to perfection. The curry chicken was alright, but contrary to the salad, the stir-fried vegetables weren't that fresh and a tad soggy. Even thought there weren't much pork ribs and pear cubes left, the soup was quite hearty.

Sweet Potato Soup

The sweet potato soup, cooked with enough ginger and brown sugar, reminded me of home. It was a delight to have at the end of the somewhat heavy dinner.

Baileys Irish Cream & Orange Juice

What could be better than some Baileys Irish Cream while waiting for the next flight scheduled after midnight? Anyway, the orange juice was very pulpy.

Pika's advice: The lounge offers individually-packed Essense tea with many different flavours. Upon debut at the HK International Tea Fair back in August 2009, the Baiyaqilan Oolong Tea received the 'Most Beloved Oolong Tea' and the 'Media Beloved Tea' awards. It was a pity that I forgot to give it a try. After the dinner, we were waiting in anticipation for our next Business Class flight.
