FJI: Cardo's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar

Heated up by seafood chowder, and cooled down by rum cocktail~

The last part of the Fiji trip was spent Denarau Island, where the largest integrated resort is in the whole of the South Pacific. Located approximately 10 km away from Nadi Downtown, it boasts not only several luxury accommodation chains, but also a huge 18-hole championship golf course. I had lunch at Cardo's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar at the marina.

I've got to admit that I didn't try any of the steak dishes at the restaurant as I was looking for something not too heavy.

Seafood Chowder FJD 12.00 (~S$7.75)
Taste: 8.5/10

For appetiser, I arbitrarily chose the seafood chowder, which turned out to be the right choice. Served at the right temperature despite the glaring sun, it was a creamy concoction full of the likes of fish, clams, as well as mushrooms. The accompanying garlic bread was crispy and aromatic.

Roasted Pork Belly Roll FJD 9.00 (~S$5.80)
Taste: 8/10

Being the cheapest lunch item on the menu, the seemingly simple roll was certainly not short on flavours. In fact, the unpretentious caramelised pork belly had a nice sweet and salty balance with an adequate amount of fats. The bread could've been toasted with a bit of margarine or butter though.

Crumbed Fish and Chips FJD 15.00 (~S$9.70)
Taste: 7.5/10

The fish and chips weren't fantastic, but decent enough. The crumbed fish was crispy enough for my liking, but the white meat could be moister. I'm not too sure what the chunky dressing on the salad was, but it was tangy enough. Pika's advice: Not a fan of crumbed fish? You can get battered fish instead for two bucks less.

Jungle Song FJD 15.00 (~S$9.70)
Taste: 8/10

The colour of the cocktail might not look vibrant, but it was a joyous mix of Fiji Rum Co. banana rum, golden honey rum, almond spice and citrus. It was mildly sweet and light on the palate, but probably could be colder to beat the heat.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 7.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10

It may not be the best restaurant at the marina, but many of the food items offered are highly affordable. Below is one of the pictures of the port that I took that afternoon.
