THA: BBQ Stall @ Sukhumvit Soi 38

Alluring smoky aroma of BBQ meat and seafood from the first stall!

I've been hearing about the small food paradise that's Sukhumvit Soi 38 in Bangkok, Thailand. In today's short and hopefully sweet review, I'm featuring the BBQ stall, which is the very first stall that you'll see on the right-hand side of the alley.

Glorious sticks of meat and seafood are what you can expect from the stall, charcoal-grilled upon order.

Grilled Pork THB 10.00 (~S$0.40)
Taste: 8/10

The skewered minced pork was tender and sweet with a nice smoky aroma. By the way, the accompanying cabbages were alright, but they could definitely be fresher.

Grilled Sausage THB 20.00 (~S$0.75)
Taste: 8.5/10

I enjoyed the enjoyably chewy pork sausage that was savoury with its curry-like flavours. On top of that, it was really juicy.

Grilled Squid THB 50.00 (~S$1.95)
Taste: 8.5/10

The grilled squid also won my heart as it was fresh and springy. The dipping sauce, presumably a concoction of fish sauce, lime juice, chilis and garlic, was refreshing and spicy enough without being prohibitively hot.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8.5/10
Ambience: 5.5/10
Overall: 7/10

While it was pretty crowded and not exactly a comfortable place to eat, I didn't feel crammed for sure, thanks to the spacing between the tables. Pika's advice: According to many people, the other food stalls offer equally delectable food, such as satay and mango sticky rice. Do give them a try.

BTW, I was lucky enough to be able to see the 1,600 Pandas World Tour without knowing about their appearance in the capital city prior to the trip! :)
