About Me

My photo
Hello, I'm Cliff Anderson, a resident of Singapore and a diluted 'ang moh'! Why Cliff(y), you ask? Well, a lot of people I've met since primary school till now have always called me Cliffy!

SIN: Yummy Viet

Delicious BBQ pork chop, but the fried rice wasn't that 'colourful'...

Quite a highly rated Vietnamese eatery online is apparently within a stone's throw away from where I live. Situated on the same stretch as the Chinatown Food Street, it's a simple restaurant with quite a nice modern decor. Since I wasn't too sure what to eat for dinner anyway, I decided to give it a try.

SIN: Le Bistrot de l'Olive

Where Mediterranean dishes meet (and beat) French... :P

Located on the first floor of V Hotel Bencoolen, which vicinity is currently undergoing construction of the future Downtown Line MRT station, Le Bistrot de l'Olive serves not only French food, but also Mediterranean cuisine. It's a Halal certified restaurant.

SIN: Tian Bao Szechuan Kitchen

Refreshingly cold, sweet, sour and spicy chicken slices with noodle!

I'd have a craving for Sichuanese cuisine once in a while. A relatively new player in the Orchard shopping district, Tian Bao Szechuan Kitchen opened its door in 2015. To the fifth floor of Ngee Ann City my feet led me on.

SIN: Feng Bo Zhuang

A huge bowl of hot steamed pumpkin slices for dessert, anyone?

My two BFFs and I came across Feng Bo Zhuang, a restaurant with quite a unique Kung Fu theme, while walking around the Chinatown area. Weapons, such as swords and axes, adorned the bamboo walls of the restaurant.

SIN: Jollibee

Even Mr. President Benigno Aquino dropped by the Lucky Plaza outlet!

I first encountered Jollibee when I went to its country of origin, the Philippines, in 2012. I can't believe it's been three years since the opening of its first outlet here at Lucky Plaza in 2013, and that's how long I waited to relive the memories of my trip to Manila and Cebu.

SIN: Joie by Dozo

Beautiful 'sashimi' and cake made of matsutake, anyone?

Aptly described as a "sanctuary above the bustle of the busy Orchard shopping district", Joie (pronounced 'joy') by Dozo offers a fine dining experience that promises to satisfy not only the stomach, but also the eyes. Look at the picture below.

SIN: Vava Bistro

How does this sound: runny yolk over stir-fried mushrooms? :P

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Vava Bistro overlooks the picturesque MacRitchie Reservoir. After a long day at work, it was relaxing to have a wholesome conversation with my BFF over a quiet dinner.

MAS: 1 Meter Teh

A 24-hour cafĂ© with affordable simple food at First World Hotel!

I finally managed to stay at First World Hotel (3*) during my short getaway to Genting Highlands, Malaysia. For the uninitiated, the hotel has set the Guinness World Record for the largest hotel in the world in terms of the total number of rooms, which is 7,351 at the point of writing. As the room that I booked didn't come with breakfast, my family and I went for a quick breakfast at 1 Meter Teh early in the morning before catching our bus back to Singapore.

MAS: QiQi Taiwan Cuisine

What a disgrace to Taiwanese food!

The want for a simple and quick dinner at Genting Highlands, Malaysia led me to QiQi Taiwan Cuisine that's located at one of the corners of First World Plaza. Thinking that I'd be able to get my food fast due to the lack of crowd, I suppose it was a wrong move to have ever stepped into the restaurant.

MAS: Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur [Breakfast]

Wasabi mayonnaise in the morning, why not? ;)

For my short visit to the capital city of Malaysia, I chose to stay at Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur (4*). It's located not too far from the Chinatown area, where I had air mata kucing (lit. cat's tears) and Madam Tang's muah chee (Chinese glutinous rice cake coated with ground peanuts) at Petaling Street.
