MFM: Regency Hotel [Breakfast]

Hard-boiled, salted and century eggs to go with porridge!

You may ask, "Why Macau again?" Truth be told, I just discovered that I'd been keeping this post as a draft without publishing it earlier, so much for being careless. Regency Hotel (5*) isn't located at the city centre, but it's a quiet hotel nestled in three acres of greenery on Taipa Island.

Assorted Stuff #1

From the selection of Western items, I was really excited to see the spaghetti with tomato sauce that had a robust colour. Unfortunately, it was lacking in depth, lacking in sweetness. The scrambled eggs were quite velvety, while the salad vegetables were pretty fresh. The ham slices and the sausage were alright, being only mildly salty.

Assorted Stuff #2

The porridge was of intermediate thickness, accompanied by peanuts, preserved radish and spring onions. There were also three types of eggs served: the ordinary hard-boiled egg, the so-so salted egg and the delightfully pungent century egg. The steamed buns weren't bad, yet I had a greater preference for the lotus paste bun than the one filled with pork. The steamed red bean cake was moderately sweet.

Fruits

The watermelon slices were juicy, but not that sweet. On the other hand, the apple slices weren't that fresh anymore by the time I came down for breakfast.

Milk Tea & Orange Cordial Drink

I added a bit of milk to the tea that could be more robust. I also took a glass of orange cordial drink that, thankfully, wasn't sickeningly sweet.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Overall: 6.5/10

While the food was passable, I enjoyed my one night stay at the old, but comfy hotel.
