HKG: Australia Dairy Company (澳洲牛奶公司)

Fluffy, velvety scrambled eggs to die for!

The plan for the second day in HK was to go for a trek at Ma On Shan (lit. horse saddle mountain). Despite the rain, I still completed one of the trails. To prepare for that, I had a quick breakfast at Australia Dairy Company; 'The Curious Case of a Shop Name', I'd say, since this eatery has nothing to do with Australia. Let's start with the Breakfast Set priced at HK$28.00 (~S$4.50).


Toast with Butter & Scrambled Eggs (Set Menu)
Taste: 9/10

Everyone seems to be crazy about the scrambled eggs, so I came with a high expectation of 9.5/10 for taste. Fluffy as they were, the eggs weren't as creamy as I'd imagined. Nevertheless, they were executed well, accompanying the crunchy toast with melted butter smacked in between the two slices.


Macaroni with Ham in Soup (Set Menu)
Taste: 8/10

The lightly seasoned macaroni in soup was heart-warming, especially on such a rainy day. The addition of chewy sliced ham gave a nice contrast to the soft texture of the pasta.


Milk Tea (Hot) (Set Menu)
Taste: 7/10

The hot milk tea didn't quite impress me, even though it had adequate amount of milk. Comparing to the one I had at Capital Café, the former paled in comparison as it didn't use that awesome Hokkaido milk. 


Egg White and Milk Custard (Hot) HK$23.00 (~S$3.70)
Taste: 8.5/10

Another must-try according to many people, the sweet custard was indeed a delicacy. It wasn't only smooth and velvety, but also had a heady aroma of fresh milk. Pika's advice: You may also want to try their traditional egg custard for the same price!

Ambience: 4.5/10
Service: 6/10
Overall: 6/10

Due to the crowd, expect to share tables with other customers. Service was really fast, but of course, not friendly. Having said that, the waiters I encountered the other day weren't rude, just that they had to be constantly on the move.

Where you can find the "world famous peameal bacon on a bun"! Originally opened in 1902, St. Lawrence Market is an iconic public market in Toronto, Canada, a culinary hotspot showcasing more than 120 merchants. The current building incorporates one that was once home to the first permanent city hall and jailhouse that operated from 1845 to 1899. During our visit, my BFF and I sampled some delights for breakfast.
