Lunch buffet at the highest restaurant in Malaysia!

Completed on 1 March 1995, Kuala Lumpur Tower stands majestically on Bukit Nanas (lit. Pineapple Hill), located within a preserved forest in the heart of the city. Being the world's 6th tallest tower at the time of writing, it houses a revolving restaurant serving a plethora of Malaysian and international cuisine.

Lunch Buffet
Adult - RM 75.90 (~S$29.45)
Child - RM 58.60 (~S$22.75)

Frankly speaking, that was my first time dining in a revolving restaurant. Gobbling plates after plates of food while enjoying an aerial view of the city proved to be a rewarding experience.

Cream of Cauliflower & Kampong Chicken Soup

The lunch began with two varieties of soup I shared with my BFF. The cream of cauliflower was thick enough for my liking and its taste was just right. On the other hand, the soto (Malay, or Indonesian, broth of meat and vegetables) was a bit thin without much of the promised chicken meat.

Salad & Pasta

A variety of fresh vegetables were provided, and I chose to drizzle them with mango dressing which had a nice sweet and sour balance. The potato salad was nicely cold and not overly thick. I also took a bit of fried spaghetti with seafood and penne with tomato sauce; both of them were average in terms of taste.

Fried Items & Maki Sushi

The fried mushrooms and sweet potatoes were constantly replenished, testament to their popularity. I must say that they were delightfully crispy, but could be more well-seasoned. The samosa (Indian triangular fried snack) filled with spiced potatoes was savoury, while the cabbage spring roll was half as savoury. Needless to say, the Japanese fix of vinegared rice with other ingredients were more of a joke.

Indian Dish

As some of you may have already known, I'm not very well-versed in Indian cuisine, so I'm not too sure of the name of each dish. It was a pity that the murtabak (Indian Muslim stuffed pancake), topped with pickled purple onion slices, was neither crispy nor full of minced mutton. The cooked cauliflowers and potatoes, among other things, were full of heady turmeric aroma, but there were too oily for my liking.

Rice Dish

There were definitely more than ten different items to go with plain rice being displayed nicely. The best meat dish was the yellowish daging masak lemak (Malay dish of beef cooked in coconut sauce) was pretty tender, having creamy sauce with such a rich blend of flavours. I'm pretty sure I've said in one of the earlier posts that I'm a huge fan of sweet and sour fish, and thankfully, the one served that day was good. Having said that, they could offer more vegetable dishes for the guests.

Dessert Plates

All the cakes were pretty moist and not cloyingly sweet. My favourite was the brownie with a deep chocolate flavour. The assorted jelly might not look appetising, but I enjoyed the melon one which was aromatic.

Fruit Punch

Complimentary fruit punch, which was a bit diluted, was included in the buffet lunch. The servers went around to fill the empty glasses, but they had the tendency to overlook some tables. Other drinks are chargeable.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

Below is just a scenery I saw during the lunch buffet that day. Pika's advice: Note that there are two lunch sessions of one and a half hour each. Make sure you eat to your heart's content instead of snapping too many pictures!
