MAS: BOH Tea'Ria

"BOH ada Ummph!"

Literally means "BOH has Ummph!", it has been adapted as a slogan by the largest black tea manufacturer in Malaysia, founded in 1929 by J.A. Russell, a British businessman during the British colonial era. I went to the plantation located at Sungei Palas in Cameron Highlands for the view, as well as the much anticipated snack at the café.

Original Scone with Jam and Cream RM 8.00 (~S$3.25)
Taste: 7.5/10

After trying the scone at The Lord's Café the day before, I have to say that the one served at the Tea'Ria was somewhat a letdown. While it was buttery, I felt that it was just a tad hard and dry, especially on the edges, when the entire pastry ought to easily crumble in the mouth. Having said that, the combination of the cream and the strawberry jam was good.

Chocolate Roll RM 4.50 (~S$1.85)
Taste: 7/10

Alas, the chocolate roll fell below my expectation as well, although it wasn't bad. While the chocolate filling was pretty delectable, it could be less chunky. Also, the pastry ought to be softer and flaky.

Lemon Myrtle Tea (Hot) RM 3.00 (~S$1.25)
Taste: 8/10

To relax and invigorate the worn-out body, a cup of hot black tea infused with lemongrass and lime was a good choice. While there was a bit too much hot water inside the cup, the scent of the infusion was quite heady.

Orchard Splash Tea (Cold) RM 3.50 (~S$1.45)
Taste: 7.5/10

The slightly sweet fruit tea, which got its flavours from orange, tangerine, sweet mango and green guava, was pretty refreshing. BTW, I dislike guava, but its inclusion in the infusion wasn't at all repulsive for me. It was a pity that it was more diluted than the hot one.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 9/10
Service: 7.5/10
Overall: 8/10

While service was no doubt efficient, I was wondering where had the smile of the server gone to? Also, they ought to clear the plates from empty seats more promptly. Nevertheless, it was truly a memorable experience, relaxing and enjoying my definitely-could-be-better tea time after hiking up Mt. Brinchang and walking down all the way to reach the tea plantation.

As a bonus, below is just one of the pictures I took using my own camera the other day. It does make a good desktop background, no? Haha...
