SIN: Bobby's Taproom.Grill.Ribs

Sweet marriage between warm apple strudel and vanilla ice cream!

To reward myself for surviving the very last, inappropriately named recess week I had in NUS, I went to CHIJMES in search of mouth-watering Western food. Bobby's is well-known for their pork ribs, but to be honest, I wasn't really in the mood to try them.

Melon wanted to appear in the first picture of the review, so I agreed to snap a picture of her in front of the colourful dishes of steak and pizza. This little princess is so adorable, right? :D

Buffalo Wings S$15.95
Taste: 8/10

The wings looked so tempting when they appeared on the table, glazed with spicy tangy sauce which was just hot enough to spike my taste buds. They were juicy, although the sauce could be sweeter so that the strong and salty blue cheese dressing would be able to balance the flavour better.

Bobby's Pizza S$25.95
Taste: 8/10

While I didn't try the pork ribs, I tried the pizza which I'm sure had the same sweet and smoky BBQ sauce for glazing the ribs. It was cheddar cheese galore with a crispy thin crust, although the minced pork wasn't equally distributed. Onion rings lent another sweet touch to the pizza.

Grilled Strip Loin with Crab Gratin S$35.95
Taste: 7/10

Despite being the most expensive dish ordered for the day, the beef steak didn't shine. I asked the server for it to be cooked to medium, but it leaned towards well-done. As a result, it wasn't juicy, not to mention that the potato cubes below it were a tad dry. The crab gratin, however, was enjoyably creamy, and the asparagus stalks were juicy and crunchy. The server also recommended the herb garlic butter to go with the steak, which was indeed appetising to appeal to my fondness for strong garlic taste.

Apple Strudel S$12.95
Taste: 9/10

Having a slice of warm apple strudel at the end of the meal was truly rewarding. The flaky pastry was filled with buttery mash of apples and raisins infused with cinnamon powder. It was served with a scoop of creamy and aromatic vanilla ice cream which didn't melt easily.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 8.5/10
Service: 9/10
Overall: 8.5/10

Contrary to many of the bad experiences people had as seen in HungryGoWhere, I had a pleasant dinner at Bobby's. The Filipino waitress was really friendly and helpful in recommending dishes. Pika's advice: You can get a 15% discount when paying with DBS/POSB debit or credit cards!
