THA: Bangkok City Inn [Breakfast]
Free flow chicken rice, anyone?
Strategically
located in the heart of the city, Bangkok City Inn (3*) is within
walking distance to CentralWorld, Erawan Shrine and Pratunam Market, but
to name a few. It's also close to the expressway and the skytrain.
The
hotel states that they're offering American breakfast for their guests.
However, when I took a quick look at the buffet spread, most of them
were Chinese food.
Toast & Pancakes
I've
always enjoyed toast with butter and strawberry jam. As for the
pancakes, they were a bit too thin, but tasted good with butter and
honey.
Assorted Stuff #1
The
porridge was bland, so it had to be taken with other stuff. I
especially enjoyed the pork ribs with wintermelons, for the meat were
tender and juicy. Moreover, the pork cooked with soy sauce was pretty
flavourful. The bitter gourd slices were really bitter.
Assorted Stuff #2
Surprisingly,
the hotel offered chicken rice! The rice was pretty fluffy and
aromatic, although the shredded chickens weren't that juicy. The fried hor fun
(Chinese flat rice noodle) was slightly better than average in terms of
taste, but it was pretty greasy as well. The scrambled eggs were pretty
smooth, the sunny-side up egg had a somewhat runny yolk, but the
sausages were dry.
Fruits
I
think I mentioned before that I don't like guava. Only until I bit into
it, I realised that the green one was guava, and it was dry. The
watermelon and pineapple slices were pretty sweet and juicy, but hey,
the latter weren't properly cored.
Coffee
The coffee, which was pretty bitter, would surely be powerful enough to give a punch to the sleepyheads!
Orange & Pineapple Cordial Drink
Both of them
were excessively sweet. Pika's advice: Dilute them with cold water like what I did!

Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 7/10
Overall: 7/10
Overall, the buffet breakfast was pretty enjoyable, but I believe there are still rooms for improvement.
