CHN: J Hotel [Breakfast]

Nice business boutique hotel, but...

The alphabet 'J' in J Hotel (4*) stands for Jaguar, but I've got no idea why they chose to name the hotel so. The hotel is located not too far away from Guangzhou East Railway Station that can be reached by foot within 10 minutes or so, and only one metro station away from Grandview Mall, the largest shopping mall in Guangzhou.

I feel that the buffet breakfast can be improved in order to further enhance the experience of staying at the hotel.

Assorted Stuff #1

The bread were tough, and the cake was just slightly sweet without having any distinctive taste. However, the cookie with sesame seeds on top of it was quite good as it was crumbly, sweet and had quite a strong vanilla flavour. Pika's advice: Grab the cookies because they're not replaced very often.

Assorted Stuff #2

The congee, which was too watery for my liking, had a bit of minced pork inside. Besides that, the salad bar didn't have much of a choice, but the vegetables were of adequate freshness. The eggs, thankfully, weren't over-boiled.

Assorted Stuff #3

Most of the cooked items were disappointing as they were insipid, but the broccoli were quite tasty. Oh, I love to see the corn with both yellow and purple kernels!

Orange

Well, at least the orange slices weren't stale.

Milk, Apple Juice & Orange Juice

I guess there's nothing much to talk about the beverages, but hey, I was glad to find hot milk!

Melon's Rating
Taste: 4.5/10
Ambience: 4/10
Overall: 4.5/10

Although the tables weren't fully occupied that morning, it was pretty noisy. Also, it didn't help when there were one or two people smoking inside the air-conditioned restaurant, even though there are no-smoking signs pasted there.
