MFM: Lord Stow's Bakery

The most famous egg tarts in Macau!

This shall be the last review of the week as we're going to Bangkok tomorrow! Ready for the most famous pastéis de nata (Portuguese egg tarts) in Macau? Andrew Stow hailed from England, opening his first bakery on Coloane Island in late 1980s.

MFM: Margaret's Café e Nata

Macau's 2nd most famous egg tarts!

I believe almost all visitors in Macau would like to have a bite on the ever-popular pastéis de nata (Portuguese egg tarts), and of course, myself included. By the way, Margaret is an ex-wife of the famous Lord Stow of Coloane who is the king of egg tarts in Macau. I'll talk more about Lord Stow's Bakery in the coming review!

MFM: Café Ou Mun

3Cs: creamy, cheesy codfish!

Located near Largo do Senado, the famous square in Macau which symbolises the power of the Portuguese in the past, is a small café offering a repertoire of Portuguese food. I got to know about the café just a few days before I left for Macau when I was browsing the Internet. A lot of people gave thumbs up for the food offered in the café.

CHN: Bailing Hotel [Breakfast]

Fulfilling buffet breakfast with yummy custard bun!

Bailing Hotel (4*) is strategically situated along the Pearl River, the third largest river in China which spans eight provinces. It's also conveniently located near the bustling Beijing Road shopping district, and within walking distance to Haizhu Square Metro station.

CHN: J-Hotel [Breakfast]

Nice business boutique hotel, but...

The alphabet 'J' in J-Hotel (4*) stands for Jaguar, but I've got no idea why they chose to name the hotel so. The hotel is located not too far away from Guangzhou East Railway Station which can be reached by foot within 10 minutes or so, and only one Metro station away from Grandview Mall, the largest shopping mall in Guangzhou.

CHN: Pan Xi Restaurant

Lavish Cantonese food at surprisingly affordable prices!

Sitting on the bank of Liwan Lake in the heart of old Guangzhou, witnessing changes since 1947, Pan Xi Restaurant is a huge, garden-style establishment which has won various awards, including (at least) one from the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.

CHN: Papa John's Pizza

"Better ingredients. Better pizza. Papa John's."

Papa John's, which is based in Louisville, Kentucky, is actually the third largest take-out and delivery pizza restaurant chain in the United States (care to have a guess on the first and second largest?). Due to its popularity, Papa John's is now available in over 30 countries! Anyway, I ordered the Set Meal for Two priced at RMB 118.00 (~S$23.60). Let's see whether I agree with their above-mentioned slogan.

CHN: Laurel Restaurant

Crispy roasted pigeon, and presumably the goose as well!

We're back! Before embarking on the reviews on a few eateries in Macau and the Philippines, let's go back to Shenzhen and Guangzhou first. This is gonna be another review on dim sum, so please bear with me haha... Many people have mentioned that whenever you come to Shenzhen, you should try the dim sum at Laurel Restaurant which is known to be Shenzhen's best Cantonese restaurant chain.

A Review on Street Food :P

Okay, that's a lie (APRIL'S FOOL!); sorry to disappoint!

Pikachu and Melon will be going to Macau and the Philippines starting from tomorrow during the mid-semester break. As such, we'd like to inform you that the next review will only be available, most likely, after the 10th of April. See you again soon!

Just one picture of Pikachu and Melon on top of the 'Great Wall of China' in Splendid China, Shenzhen :)

Have a nice meal,
Cliff(y)
